One God Three Persons, The Trinity

"Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, and the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, 'Thou art My Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."
-Luke 3:21-22

"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen"
-II Cor 13:14

This is likely to be a blog that inspires some controversy... With the Christadelphian movement, Anti-Trinarian sect of SDA, Jehova's Witness, Anti-Trinitarian Pentacostal Charismatism and many other movements claiming some form of Anti-Trinitarian doctrine. This however is an attack on the plain teaching of Scripture. Don't take my word for it by any means, let's see what the plain Word of God teaches.

First of all my beloved reader, if you are struggling with the question of weather or not the lovely Jesus is in-fact God, I encourage you to read these two posts, they more fully answer this question specifically, laying out Biblical proof for why Jesus is God; whereas this post will be dealing with the issue of the Trinity.

With all that said let's delve right into the Holy Word of God, I pray that You're blessed.

Important points early

"And God said, 'Let US make man in Our image...'"
-Gen 1:26

  • Obviously God is speaking to someone when He says this, and it isn't the angels because angels are not necessarily made in the image of God, so it would not be "Our image" if it was the angels. No where in scripture are the angels described as being in the "image of God" as man is described. Christ however is described as the "Express Image" of God the loving Father. (Heb 1:3)

A Prophet's Vision!

"In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, hight and lifted up, and His train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twin he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another and said Holy Holy Holy is the LORD of hosts: the whole earch is full of His glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that criedand the house was filled with smoke."
-Isaiah 6:1-4

  •  Not only does God in verse 8 of the same chapter again say "US" in reference to Himself as a Triune Godhead, but in v 1-4 Isaiah says that he looks upon "The LORD" sitting in His throne.
"No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him."
-John 1:18

  • so was Isaiah mistaken, lying or was there a farther light shown? Let's explore!
  • Isaiah was actually right, He saw the Son Jesus and therefore saw God, but John is also right because no one at any time has seen the Father. Even Moses was allowed to see God only from behind lest he should be destroyed (Exo 33:20)
We can see between these verses that Isaiah did see God, but not God the Father, He saw Jesus, now this is a problem if you do not believe that Jesus is God, but the fact that He is God gives us farther light on the issue; this is also a problem for anyone saying that Jesus and the Father are the same person, because then if that's the case than who has no one seen? And who did Isaiah see? Jesus and His Father must both be God, as Jesus so beautifully said "I and my father are one." (John 10:30)

For more Trinitarian references from the old testament please send the LORD's servant an e-mail, for farther study on the issue.

The Gospel Writers Teach the Trinity.

"Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John forbad him, saying, 'I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?' And Jesus answering said unto him, 'Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness.' And Jesus, when He was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and lo, the heavens were opened unto Him and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dobe, and lighting upon Him: And lo a voice from heaven saying, 'Thou art My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.'"
-Matt 3:13-17

See also Luke 3:21,22

  • In this verse we can see that God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all three separate entities, Jesus being God, was dwelling in the body of a man; God the Father being God was dwelling in heaven; and the Holy Ghost was descending upon the Savior in the likeness of a dove.
  • They are obviously not all just one entity lest there would be no purpose for this display. They are all God, and yes they are one, acting in unison, but they are three separate entities.
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost."
-Matt 28:19

  • If Jesus was not God, or the Holy Ghost not God, or the Father not God, than there would have been no need for Him to list all three.
  • The fact that Jesus plainly tells His apostles to teach the world of, and baptize them in the name of all three entities it can only be that all three of them are important to the function of the Godhead. Jesus, His Father, and the Holy Ghost are all necessary, not only in heaven, but for the Gospel work.
  • Notice they must all three be taught of, and are all three a part of the baptism, that means this is by no means a "secondary issue" if you reject a member of the Godhead you have rejected the whole of it beloved! (I John 2:23)

"And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was lead by the Spirit into the wilderness."
-Luke 4:1

  • Jesus is "full of the Holy Ghost" and lead of "The Spirit"
  • Well it doesn't make sense that He was, "full of an electrical current," or, "lead of His own breath." The Holy Ghost must be a separate entity that is one with the Godhead and is God just as the others
"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made."
-John 1:1

  • This is referring to Jesus (Verse 14) and pointing out His divinity, but it also references the Trinity (With God... was God...)
  • This means that Jesus is God, but also was with God; well it is safe to assume He wasn't beside Himself, so it is referring to God the Father being with Jesus, that they created the World together.

"Peace be unto you: as My Father hath sent Me, even so send I you."
-John 20:21

  • Jesus by His own divine words was sent of the Father. Making them two separate entities both aspects of the one divine person-hood of God.
Jesus continued, "And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost."
-Verse 22
  • Now the Holy Ghost comes into play as well, and thus all three members of the Godhead are plainly shown
The Trinity Taught in the Book of Acts

"This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, He hath shed forth this which ye now see and hear."
 -Acts 2:32,33

  • All three members of the Divine Godhead again clearly displayed. Jesus whom is glorified, the Father at who's right hand Jesus sits, and the Holy Ghost who ministers to mankind
"But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly, into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, and said, 'Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God."
-Acts 7:55

  • Again Jesus is seen at "The right hand of the Father" and the Holy Spirit is filling the LORD's servant Stephen. They are each displayed as a distinct entity.
"The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree. Him hath God exalted with His right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, for repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins."
-Acts 5:30,31

  • There is no forgiveness for sins without Jesus, without the cross and the full meaning of the fact that God Himself descended and took on the filthy rags of humanity to live as a human being; and not a human being when our first-parents lived, no He took the form of a race that sin had degraded for 4,000 years and lived as a poor man. The God of heaven lived with no place to rest His head and was crucified by His own creation, humiliated, mocked, and persecuted, just so that you could have the right to the tree of life beloved! Imagine beloved! God loves you so much that even if you were the only one who would have come to Him He still would have died for your salvation!
"How God impressed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him."
-Acts 10:38

  • God the Father anointed Jesus and impressed Him with the Holy Ghost.
  • Well if Jesus is the only member of the Godhead that who impressed the Savior?
  • Furthermore if there is no Holy Spirit than what was our lovely Savior impressed with?
  • Clearly all three were operating with one purpose and are one divine force in three distinct being
"And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as He did unto us... But we believe that through the grace of the LORD Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they."
-Acts 15:8,11

The Trinity As seen in The Epistles of The Apostle Paul

"Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, which He had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures, concerning His Son Jesus Christ our LORD, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness by the resurrection from the dead."
-Rom 1:1-4
"For the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit."
-Rom 8:2-4

  • Again and again the Father is shown sending His Son.
"That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost."
-Rom 15:16

  • Paul is declaring his work of bringing Gentiles to the fold to be the work of God, and that the offering of Gentiles may be acceptable to Him because of the ministering of the Holy Spirit. Each member of the Godhead having a separate role in the process but each one being fully God and fully needed for the process of redeeming the Gentile world.
Paul continues in Verse 30 "Now I beseech you, brethren, for the LORD Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me"

"And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."
-I Cor 6:11

  • we can only be sanctified in the name of Jesus through the work of the Holy Ghost.

"But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man: and the head of Christ is God."
I Cor 11:3

  •  This text makes no sense unless there is God the Father, and Jesus, it makes no sense to say, "the man is head of the woman, Christ is head of every man, and the head of Christ is Christ."
  • There has to be God the Father and God the Son, they are both laid out in Scripture.

"Now He which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in out hearts."
-II Cor 1:21-22

"The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen."
 -II Cor 13:14

  • Here all three members of the Godhead are clearly shown, and clearly distinct. Each member of the one Godhead having it's own being, again all three are revealed in this one text, this is quite possibly the most blatant of all examples of the Trinity doctrine in scripture.

The Trinity in the Epistles of The Apostle Peter.
"Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you and peace be multiplied."
-I Peter 1:2

  • All three members of the Godhead are required to make any one of us one of the saved, or "elect"
"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit."
-I Peter 3:8

  • So Jesus suffered for our sins, so that He could bring us closer to the Father, quickened by the Holy Ghost. Not only is the Trinity revealed here but there is simply no way around the fact that the Trinity is Gospel Truth, there is no two ways about it. The Son is needed, the Father is needed, and the Holy Ghost is needed or else there is no salvation.
In Conclusion

Thank you so much beloved for reading this! I truly pray that you are blessed by this study, the world is perishing and the Gospel of love must go fourth! God bless you all! 1. THE DEFINITION AND PURPOSE OF WATER BAPTISM BY STEVE FINNELL

What is the definition and the purpose of water baptism under the New Covenant?

    THE DEFINITION?

Baptism as defined in the Scriptures.

Acts 8:36 And, as they went on their way they came to a certain water; and the eunuch said, Look, here is water; what is there to hinder me from being immersed? (Ref: The Better Version of The New Testament by Chester Estes)

The definition of baptism is to be immersed in water.

Acts 8:36 As they went along the road they came to some water;and the eunuch said, "Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?" (Ref: NASB)

The definition of water baptism under the New Covenant is immersion in water.

Romans 6:4 We were, therefore, buried with him by immersion into that death; that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, thus we also should walk in newness of life. (Ref: TBVOTNT by Chester Estes)

In water baptism, believers in Christ are buried by immersion in water. This symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.

Romans 6:4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. (Ref: NASB)

To be buried through baptism makes it clear that water baptism is immersion. Men cannot be buried under a sprinkle or by having water poured over them.

Colossians 2:12 Having been buried with him by immersion, by which also you were raised up with him, through the belief of the strong working of God, who raised him from the dead. (Ref: TBVOTNT by Chester Estes)

Water baptism is a burial by immersion.

Colossians 2:12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. (Ref: NASB)

Baptism is a burial by immersion.

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF WATER BAPTISM?

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Let each one of you repent and be immersed, in the name of Jesus Christ, in order to the remission of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Ref: The Better Version Of The New Testament by Chester Estes)

One purpose of water baptism is in order to have sin forgiven.

Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Ref: NASB)

A reason to be baptized in water is so your sins may be forgiven.

Galatians 3:27 For as many of you as have been immersed into Christ, have put on Christ. (Ref: TBVOTNT by Chester Estes)

One purpose of water baptism is to put on Christ.

Galatians 3:27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. (Ref: NASB)

A purpose for water baptism is so men can be clothed with Christ.

Mark 16:16 He who has believed, and has been immersed, will be saved..... (Ref: TBVOTNT by Chester Estes)

A purpose of water baptism is in order to be saved.

Mark 16:16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved.... (Ref: NASB)

One reason to be baptized in water is so that you may be saved from the punishment of your sins.

YES, WATER BAPTISM (IMMERSION IN WATER) IS ESSENTIAL TO BE SAVED.
